IMPHAL, Apr 4: MEELAL expressed reservations over the detention of its Organisation Secretary Yanglem Biren on April 3 by police when he came to attain an important meeting of the organisation. Asserting that Meitei script is now being taught upto standard IV with the efforts of MEELAL, the organisation exhorted the State Police to treat the volunteers of the organisation well in future.

IMPHAL, Apr 4: Ahead of the forthcoming Cheiraoba festival, Friendship Centre, Manipur has donated 10 kgs of paneer to each of the orphanages located at Tera, Dewlahland and Ching-meirong Lei Ingkhol yesterday, informed a press release issued by the Centre.

Bodies condemn
IMPHAL, Apr 4: The Zou Youth Organisation, Sugnu branch, the Zou Mothers’ Association and Zou Youth Association, Chandel district have joined the condemnation chorus against the killing of two Anal women––Snowy Anal and Lh Easther on March 21 at a place in Thoubal district. In a press release, the bodies decried the failure of the Chief Minister to fulfil his assurance to book the culprits within 48 hours. It further urged upon the authority concern to trace the killers and to book them under law at the earliest. The Zomi bodies also shared the sorrow and anguish of the bereaved families.
KSO decries
IMPHAL, Apr 4: The KSO Imphal branch has strongly condemned the KCP (MC), allegedly responsible for constant threats to the Director of RIMS. A press release issued by the student body decried that accusing the Director on unfounded grounds just for the sake of getting their hands into some easy money is very shameful and a matter of great concern for the general public. The KSO (IB) will not remain a mute spectator to the alleged multiple attempts on the life of Director L Fimate by certain UG elements. Asserting that Dr Fimate is a man of integrity, KSO (IB) remarked that it is unbecoming for the KCP (MC) to malign the image of Dr Fimate. It further appealed to all concerned to let the RIMS Director and all the staff work properly, free from any threat or fear.
Elders meet
IMPHAL, Apr 4: A workshop on Elders Meet of Women Artisans was opened today at MFDC complex today.
The workshop is being organised jointly by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts and the Manipur Film Development Corporation Limited.
The inaugural function of the workshop was graced by Padmasree MK Binodini, Chairperson of the Manipur State Commission for Women Dr Jamini and North East co-ordinator of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts Dr Kailash K Mishra as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Vehicle lifters held
JIRIBAM, Apr 4: Two vehicle lifters were nabbed by Jirighat police yesterday at the police check post while they were making their way towards Manipur from Silchar, police sources said.
A Maruti van bearing No. MZ-01-C 3258 stollen from Silchar was seized from the duo, who were identified as L Sunil (22) s/o L Suren of Kalinger Jiribum and H Inao (35) s/o H Bashi of Wangoi Imphal, said the OC of Jirighat, Yasin Ali.
Notably, H Inao works with Manipur Police Department bearing service No 0101287 and he is currently posted at Jiribum, the sources added.
Food festival
IMPHAL, Apr 4: With an aim to promote and popularise indigenous delicacies innovative Youth Development Association, RIMS Road in association with Department of Art & Culture will organise the 1st Manipur Chinjak (food) Festival from April 18 till 28 at GM Hall.
Indigenous food items of different communities in both veg and non-veg forms which include cooked/raw as well as juices would be showcased during the 10 day festival.
Cycles found
IMPHAL, Apr 4: Two cycles are in the custody of Manipur Security Service, PDA Complex after the same were found abandoned at near the entrance gate of RIMS Hospital and morgue gate on April 2 morning.
Owners may claim the cycle/s after furnishing prove of ownership within tomorrow failing which the cycles would be handed over to the police, the agency informed in a release.

IMPHAL, Apr 4: Unidentified miscreants fired some shots at the Charangpat Mamang Leikai (Thoubal district) residence of Pradhan of Charangpat Gram Panchayat Pheiroijam Heramani (30) at around 10.30 pm yesterday.
One dies
IMPHAL, Apr 4: A youth identified as Thokchom Andy (17) s/o Th Biren of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai succumbed to ailments mysteriously at Raj Polyclinic, North AOC at about 5.30 pm today .
KNA suspends Tomba

Lamka, Apr 4: The Kuki National Army today made it known to all concerned that financial demands made by an individual identified as Tomba Meetei in the name of Stanley Kuki, Accounts Officer KNO/KNA Division V is suspended with the deceased of Stanley Kuki.
Claiming further, a communique of the oganisation said KNO/KNA had severed its tie with Tomba and that concerned Government Departments have to now onwards deal all financial matters with Albert Kuki, AO Imphal. It also warn of adequate action if Tomba Meetei fails to surrender along with all the cash that he had collected within six days before the organization.
Science programme

ociation (AMCTA) expres-sed dissatisfaction on Govt’s attitude in the appointment of Principals in-
charge.
Alleging that top brass in the Higher Education practise favouritism, AMCTA added that some principals in-charge are appointed through seniority basis while others through the guidelines of UGC, a press release said.

IMPHAL, Apr 4: Aryan Theatre’s Saomdo will be telecast on DDK Imphal on April 5 at 6 pm. The play designed and directed by S Rajen has been adapted from Anton Chekov’s The Bear by O Mangi.
Valedictory function
IMPHAL, Apr 4: Progressive Artiste Laboratory Imphal will organise a valedictory function for research based training project on tribal music on April 6 at Friends English School, Ragailong. Tribal musical instruments will be displayed in an exhibition in this connection. PDA chairman Dr Kh Loken and former minister Gangmumei Kamei will grace the function sponsored by Sangeet Natak Akademi as chief guest and president respectively.
Service suspended
IMPHAL, Apr 4: Following bashing up of its four drivers by some unidentified persons along Imphal-Kasom Khullen road on April 2, Kasom Khullen Sub-Division Bus Owners’ Association suspended service until an explicit clarification is furnished by the concerned. KKLSDBOA also warned with dare consequences if anybody ferries passengers on this road.
