To resolve the deadlock following the decision of oil tanker drivers not to take the wheel and deposit fuel at the Chingmeirong Oil Depot, FCS Minister Y Erabot has convened a meeting tomorrow at his office chamber. The Minister has sent missives to officials of IOC posted at the oil depot as well as the office bearers of the All Manipur Petroleum Tanker Drivers’ Union to make sure that they attend the meeting scheduled to start from 10 am tomorrow. Erabot said that efforts would be made to bring the two sides to an agreement. The drivers had launched the stir alleging high handedness of the Depot Manager and had served the ultimatum that they would continue with their agitation until and unless the Manager is shifted somewhere else. On the absence of security cover given to tankers transporting NRL fuel, the Minister said that the DGP has been asked to provide security escorts to them too. There are in all five NRL depots in Manipur, informed Erabot. The fuel for these five depots are transported on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, he said and added that he received a complaint yesterday that security escort was not provided to the tankers at Dimapur.
