VMP appeals
IMPHAL, Jun 5: Condem-ning the excesses commit- ted by armed cadres of KNF (MC) toward the poor and needy villagers of Kanga-thei Kom village, Volunta- ry Mission for Poor (VMP), Palace Gate has appealed to all the Komrem local churches/ religious sectors and public to uphold in their prayers for the early recovery of he five victims who were beaten up blue and black by KNF (MC) cadres somewhere in Chu-rachandpur. In a statement, VMP secretary further appealed to all concerned to ensure such incident do not recur in the future, saying that any outfit which upholds the ideology of ‘power alone is the key for solution’ will never succeed in their mission because ‘power without justice is only violent.
Youth award
IMPHAL, Jun 5: Nehru Yuva Kendra, Chandel has invited application from district level youth clubs and individuals for conferring Youth Club and Indivi- duals awards under the scheme of Youth Award, 2007-08. Interested persons may contact the office of the District Youth Co-ordinator, NYK Chan-del for further details in this regard. The last date of submission of application is June 30, 2008.
Inaugurated
IMPHAL, Jun 5: A new office building of MSF Jiri Branch has been inaugurated today by SDC Jiri Md Jahurddin, reports our Jiri-bam correspondent. Oath taking ceremony of the newly elected office bearers of the student body for the tenure 2008-09 has also been performed at Jiri Town Hall. M Ranjit and Kh Sanjit were sworn in as the new president and general secretary respectively.
Electrocuted
IMPHAL, Jun 5: One Md Kora (50) s/o late Ahmad of Khurai Heikrumakhong Khomidok Masjid Maning Leikai was electrocuted at about 9.30 am today.
The tragic incident took place at Khomidok Umang Leikai when Md Kora was transporting GI sheets on a rickshaw. He got electrocuted as the GI sheets came into contact with a HT power line.
Infant body found
IMPHAL, Jun 5:Body of a new born baby was found abandoned near the gate of Officers’ Club, Lamphelpat this morning. Lamphel police have picked up the body and deposited it at RIMS morgue.
Body taken
IMPHAL, Jun 5: The body of Pukhrambam Nanao alias Ibungo of Nambol Pukhrambam Leikai who was reportedly shot dead by a combined force of Police Commandos and 12 MLI during an encounter at Narankonjil Thongkhong Takhellambam Konjil under Wangoi Police Station at around 8.58 pm of May 31 has been taken away by his family members today.
UG cadres held
IMPHAL, Jun 5: One PULF cadre identified as Md Razauddin (22) s/o Md Kheiruddin of Keirao was apprehended by troops of 32 AR during an operation conducted at Lilong Turel Ahanbi area yesterday, informed an AR PRO release adding that the cadre was handed over to Lilong police station.
In another incident, troops of 12 Maratha Light Infantry arrested one PLA cadre during an operation in Patsoi area yesterday.
The individual identified as S/S Sgt Samananda alias Dinesh (23) s/o Manathon of Heibongpokpi was handed over to Patsoi police station yesterday, added the release.
Students feted
IMPHAL, Jun 5: A felicitation porgramme in honour of the successful students of Model English School, Sinakeithei, Ukhrul in this year’s HSLC exam conducted by the BSEM was held in the school chapel hall on May 31, informed a release.
The felicitation function was attended by church leaders, village leaders, school board members, teachers, students, parents and well wishers, it added.
ICTA complaint
IMPHAL, Jun 5: a complaint has been lodged at Singjamei police station, kakwa against the Principal in-charge of Imphal College T Thoiba and some other individuals for allegedly tearing off College prospectus 2008, damaging College property and tarnishing image of the institution, said a release of Imphal College Teachers’ Association.
Culvert caution
IMPHAL, Jun 5: Informing to all concerned that the culvert at near Henbung village Tea Garden on the Maram-Imphal section of the National Highway 39 has been damaged thereby posing danger, Executive Engineer of NH Division-I has urged for maximum caution and drive slowly in order to avoid mishaps.
SC/ST training programme
IMPHAL, Jun 5: Job seekers belonging to the SC/ST category and interested in undergoing training in typing, shorthard, general knowledge, english etc under the 9th phase of Special Coaching Scheme 2008-09 sponsored by the Directorate General of Employment and Training, Ministry of Labour, New Delhi are informed to contact Sub-Regional Employment Officer, Coaching cum Guidance Centre for SC/ST, Imphal (Lamphelpat) for detailed information on he training programme.
Qualification of desirous individuals should be matriculate and above and registered with local employment exchange, said a release adding applications for the 11 month training course should be submitted within June 24.
Orientation programme ends
IMPHAL, Jun 5: The 3rd orientation training programme on Educational Technology (Audio visual aids) for schools teachers which was organised by the Directorate of SCERT since May 31 at the EDUSAT hall of SCERT in DM College campus concluded today.
According to a statement issued by the Audio Visual Officer (SCERT) the objective of the training programme is to orientate the teachers on importance of ET (audio visual aids) in the present trend of education system.
In all 35 teachers participated at the training programme conducted under the supervision of 7 resource persons.
Aqua training
IMPHAL, Jun 5: training programme for fish farmers would be conducted by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Utlou from June 9 to 13 and June 16 to 20 for which interested fish farmers are informed to formally apply to the Programme Coordinator of KVK, Bishnupur.
The training programme would cover disease control measures in aqua farms starting from June 9 and on culture practices of monopterus albus (ngaprum) from June 16.
The training programme was supposed to be conducted in May, added a KVK release.
Senapati agents
IMPHAL, Jun 5: PDS, APL, BPL and AAY rice agents of Karong, mao and Tadubi assembly constituencies in Senapati district are informed to deposit advance money to LDC/FCS Senapati RK Chinglen for release of rice for the months of April and June.
A release issued by the Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Kesarwani further conveyed that those agents who do not deposit the advance money within June 10 would be barred from procuring/lifting their rice quota.
