Hair salon ransacked
MPHAL, Jul 1:
Infuriated local people ransacked a hair salon run by some non-Manipuris at Lamphel Super Market at around 10.40 am today after the attending barbers allegedly misbehaved with one girl who came to get a hair cut. Accor-ding to information received by the press, there were in all three chairs with three attending barbers in the said hair salon. Two girls from Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai came for hair cuts at the salon while a youth from Thingel Maru was already having his hair cut. When the youth overheard the two non-Manipuri barbers who were attending on the two girls exchanging some lewd remarks in Hindi, he looked up only to find one of the bar-bers groping on the body his customer. The youth reacted immedia-tely and beat up the barber and alerted other people who subsequently ransac-ked the salon. On receiving the report, Lamphel police arrived at the scene. But the three non-Manipur barbers have already fled.
