Two killed in Langol operation

IMPHAL, Jul 1: Two suspected underground activists have been killed by a combined force of Imphal West District Commandos and personnel of 32 Assam Rifles during an operation launched at Langol Games Village Zone-I early morning today.
According to police report, on receiving specific information on the movement of underground elements in Langol Games Vilage area, the combined force cordoned off the area and conducted search operation at around 3.30 am today.
While the operation was underway 3-4 unidentified persons tried to escape and the security forces asked them to stop. But instead stopping, the fleeing persons fired at the security personnel.
The security personnel also retaliated the firing which last for around 15 minutes and killed the two suspected underground activists.
One country made carbine, one magazine loaded with four live rounds of ammunition, one 9 mm pistol loaded with four bullets and one 36 H-2 Hand grenade have also been recovered from the possession of the two slain person whose identities are yet to be established.
The bodies have been picked up and kept at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital.
According to police report, the two slain youths appear to be around 30 years of age. One of them was clad in T-shirt grey in colour and cream colour trousers with long hair, strong built and wheatish complexion.
The other was wearing a black T-shirt and faded Jean pant with crop hair and lean body. The ear lobes of both the slain youths were not pierced.
