Kohima, Jul 4: In a major ganja haul, Police Narcotic Cell personnel stationed at Khuzama check gate near Kohima this afternoon seized 2600 kilograms of contraband ganja (marijuana).
The consignment was seized from the possession of Thakur Baral (30), son of late M. Baral of Paspati under Senapati district of Manipur and Suraj Baruah (18), a handyman, son of Soniya Baruah of Charhajar, also under Senapati district. Their vehicle (MN01-6722) is also seized. A case in this connection has been registered and the two forwarded to judicial custody for further investigation.
In another incident, narcotics police at the same outpost seized 20 kilos of contraband ganja from the possession of one Mrs. Sa-na (30), wife of Nilli of Tadu- bi village under Senapati district. A case in this connection has been registered as well and the accused forwarded to judicial custody.
Ganja seized (Jiribam): Troops of 5 Assam Rifles seized 3000 kgs of Ganja from three persons from near Longchai village in Tamenglong district today, reports our Jiri correspo-dent. The arrested persons have been identified as G Gaijei (40) of Longchai, L Kumar (40) of Dibong Khu-nou and Janai Das (38) of Gowljam of West Bengal. The arrested trio along with the seized stuff have been handed over to Jiri Police Station.
