JAC pickets CM's office

IMPHAL, Jul 4: Demanding befitting punishment of the doctors accused of negligence that led to the the death of Keisam Sunibala alias Pakpi of Utlou, at RIMS on July 1 after delivering a baby at Leirik Memorial Charitable Hospital, a large number of people picketed the official residence of the Chief Minister today.
The JAC Against the Death of Keisam Ongbi Sunibala alias Pakpi Due To Negligence of Dr Laishram Sukumar came to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister today at about 3.30 pm.
However, the large number of the JAC members were blocked by police in front of the Chief Minister's residence.
As the people tried to breach the police barricade, a tussle erupted between the two sides.
\With the arrival of top police officials, the enraged mob was flushed out till the gate of MSRTC.
In the mean time, another team of JAC members marched towards the CM's official residence. They were also blocked by police near Nupi Lan Memorial Complex.
Later three representatives were allowed to hand over to memorandum to the Chief Minister.
According to the memorandum, Dr L Sukumar, the prime accused in the case, was responsible for the death of two pregnant women earlier due to his negligence.
It demanded immediate termination of incompetent Dr Sukumar and to award befitting punishment.
Reacting strongly to the clarification of Dr Sukumar allegedly aimed at covering up his faults, the JAC maintained that the doctor should confess his guilt to the people. The JAC asserted that they would not make compromise under any circumstance until and unless Dr Sukumar is terminated from service for good.
