One killed in firing
IMPHAL, Jul 5: One Md Basir Ahamad (60) of Tulihal Awang Leikai succumbed to bullet injuries at RIMS yesterday. The deceased sustained fatal injuries when some unidentified persons suspected to be cadres of PULF fired into his house under Yairiok police station at about 10 pm yesterday.
Md Basir was a cultivator and he lived with his wife Rahamatun alias Nurul (45) in the house as his two sons are staying outside the State studying.
Nurul conveyed that she opened the front door of their house yesterday night following repeated barking of dogs. But when she opened the door, she found some 5/6 armed men standing there at the courtyard. They even asked Nurul to come out to talk on some matter.
Sensing something amiss, Nurul went inside the house, bolted the door and switched on the light fixed outside the house.Just then the unidentified persons fired around 5 rounds into the house. As she ran to the rear part of the house, Nurul found her husband (Basir) hit by a bullet in the left abdomen and writhing in pain in the kitchen.
Immediately, she informed the neighbourhood and take her husband to RIMS. However, Basir succumbed to his injuries at about 2.25 am today at RIMS. Nurul said that she know all the armed men clad in camouflage.
One of them left behind a slipper while fleeing away. After post mortem , the corpse was handed over to family members.
