Shot dead
A youth believed to be an Assam Rifles personnel, identified as Romesh of Wangoo was shot dead by unidentified gunmen today at Tangkham Awang Leikai in Imphal East at about 7.30 pm. Sources said that Romesh was abducted along with two persons yesterday from Sawom-bung. The other two persons were let off with a ‘lesser punishment with one bullet each on the left thigh.’ The two survivors are identifed as Mongjam Itocha of Samaram, presently staying at Luwangshangbam and Krishnadas from Assam. Both have been admitted to JN Hospital.
